Cosmo Memorial Scholarship Fund
On June 4th, 2025, my (Sensei Jonathan) nephew Cosmo Bonnet Silverman passed away in a tragic car accident in his school pick-up line. Cosmo embodied what I believe is the true purpose of life—a beautiful message he expressed both in his own writings and in the way he moved through the world:
To live fully.
To love deeply.
To lift others up.
Cosmo’s spirit of kindness, presence, and joyful curiosity is also the very heart of Life Ki-do. In his memory, and to expand Cosmo’s example of living what he called “A Beautiful Life,” we are creating the Cosmo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This fund will provide tuition and training gear to families who want their children to experience the benefits of Life Ki-do but need financial assistance to do so. My hope is that Cosmo’s message will continue to ripple out—helping more children grow strong, compassionate, and connected.
If you feel inspired to contribute, there are two meaningful ways to do so:
- Purchase a customizable Life Ki-do yard sign celebrating your child’s training journey. You can see examples of the sign here.
- Make a one-time or recurring monetary donation of any amount here. Every contribution helps make Life Ki-do accessible to more families.
- Important Transparency Notice: Life Ki-do is a for-profit business and thus donations to this fund are not eligible to be tax-deductible. However, 100% of yard sign proceeds and 100% of donations will go directly to tuition and training gear for students in need through the Cosmo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
You can find both the yard signs and monetary donation options through the link below. Please note that 100% of the proceeds will go to the Cosmo Memorial Scholarship Fund.
May Cosmo’s beautiful life inspire us all to live and love more fully.
The Journey of the Soul Poem
Inspired by Cosmo’s Beautiful Life
It is said that the purpose of our soul’s journey on this earth
is to live and taste life fully—
to greet each moment with the wonder it deserves,
and to open our hearts without holding back.
To discover the deepest authenticity of our presence—
the quiet truth of our love, our care, our wisdom,
and our oneness with all of life,
like the sea touching every shore.
To love and uplift others with sensitivity and grace,
to help them live fully,
to mirror back to them their own radiant authenticity,
so each person knows they belong.
To honor not only the light but also the shadows,
the beauty and the ache woven into every human heart—
and in doing so, to find our own path
guided by spirit, soul, and love.
The most beautiful life is lived by those
who awaken to these truths—
some in the long unfolding of many decades,
and some, like Cosmo,
who arrive on the faster train—
a wise, tender, and magical soul,
whose artistic spirit and bright presence
touched everyone lucky enough to know him,
who seemed to know, almost from the start,
how to soar.
And when such souls leave this earth,
when the light of their presence slips beyond our reach,
how can the broken hearts left behind continue?
By honoring the depths of our sorrow
and allowing gratitude to rise alongside it—
the blessing of having shared life with Cosmo,
the gift of his laughter, his kindness, his light.
May we carry his flame forward,
let it kindle our own courage
to live our own beautiful, authentic lives—
each in our own flavor and color,
each in tribute to the love he so effortlessly gave,
and remembering his words:
“No matter how long you live,
try to make your life a beautiful one.”
